33rd FIAP YOUTH DIGITAL BIENNIAL - 2011

FIAP Gold medal for Sri Lankan student & Category 1 World Cup for Sri Lanka It is indeed a rare occurrence to secure "Gold" for an event of the FIAP for photography in Sri Lanka. However, a selection of photographs forwarded to the 33rd Biennial Youth contest held in Abu Dhabi by the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka secured not only a Gold Medal for a student at the under 16 category, but also the First rank - FIAP World cup with a total of 180 points. The International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) has announced the names of countries and the photos winning in the 33rd FIAP youth biennial contest held in Abu Dhabi in 2011under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage. The FIAP youth biennial contests of photography are held every two years and accept the participation of the member states of the young photographers in two different age categories, the first for those under the age of 16, and the second for those under the age of 21. The jury nominated by FIAP.

Arbitration is conducted by calculating points for each work. Awards are granted to the countries for the total points of the photographers participating in each country, and also to the individual photos having the highest scores in each age group, according to FIAP's laws and regulations. CATEGORY 1 (of those under the age of 16)

 
  • First rank (FIAP World Cup) won by Sri Lanka with a total of 180 points
  • Second rank (FIAP Gold medal) won by Slovakia with a total of 161 points
  • Third rank (FIAP Silver medal) won by Austria with a total of 149 points
  • Fourth rank (FIAP Bronze medal) won by Hungary with a total of 134 points
 

Individual Awards:

 
  • FIAP Gold medal won by Kavindya Charuni from Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 8, Sri Lanka.
  • FIAP Silver medal won by Tibor Kuna from Slovakia.
  • FIAP Bronze medal won by Müller Tanja from Austria.
 

CATEGORY 2 (of those under the age of 21)

 
  • First rank (FIAP World Cup) won by the UAE with a total of 164 points
  • Second rank (FIAP gold medal) won by Norway with a total of 157 points
  • Third rank (FIAP silver medal) won by Italy with a total of 155 points
  • Fourth rank (FIAP bronze medal) won by Ukraine with a total of 151 points
 

Individual Awards:

 
  • FIAP Gold medal won by Mohamed Sharji from the Sultanate of Oman.
  • FIAP Silver medal won by Kovalska Marta from Ukraine.
  • FIAP Bronze medal won by Giovanni Bus from Italy.
